Some time ago, I found myself in a place with minimal digital access. Ironically, even without any connection, I kept reaching for Facebook — a stark reminder of how entrenched these habits had become.
Here's a thing about platforms like Facebook: they're designed to hook us. We often stumble upon a post or a comment that rewards our brains with a jolt of dopamine. These inconsistent rewards become addictive, much like a slot machine.
Yet, there was another side to my social media use that bothered me even more: trying to always play by the algorithm's rules. Should I post now? How long should this caption be? Maybe slap on an image to get more attention? It felt like playing a game where the rules kept changing. I became more focused on these questions than on the genuine content I wanted to share.
So, I'm moving in a different direction now.
What's Next?
I'll be curating and sharing links, accompanied by brief insights, focusing solely on their merit and interest. No more algorithm gymnastics, no more contrived strategies — just straightforward content.
I’m taking a step back from the mind games to simply share content I find valuable. If you're interested in a space without the constant noise and game-playing, I believe this will be a refreshing change.
As we dive into this new format, I'm looking forward to sharing and learning together, focusing solely on the essence of the content.
